Game Play

Hey I mostly play CoV or CoH, but I am interested in finding more about RFO. What is the combat like? Is it closer to Guild Wars style or CoV/CoH or is it completely different? I like the idea of meshing the lore of fantsay and the futuristicness (if that's a word) of sci-fi. Any more information would be great. Thanks!

RE: Game Play

I would have to say it's more like CoV than Guild Wars. You have to click once to select and click again to attack. There is the option for auto attack also so you dont have to keep clicking to attack. The skills seem a little different. When you use a skill, the recharge time starts, but you can't use any other of that type skill till the one you used recharges.

For instance, you use an attack still. You cannot use any other attack skill till the recharge is done, but you can use a buff or a healing pot. It might sound kinda odd, but IMO it feels quite natural.

RE: Game Play

Hay, it's free so give it a shot!

I found it to take quite a bit of getting used to coming from CoX...the controls are quite different, IMO. The hardest thing for me was to get used to clicking to move instead of using WASD.

The combat is more similar, and wow, the leveling goes really fast...it's kida fun to just go out and whack things for a change...no glowies, etc.

Just to correct what I said earlier, you can't use any skills at all if there is one recharging.

RE: Game Play

Welcome Archangelcoh,

As Cali already said, just give it a try. It's free! But if you want to have some better idea, look through the GAME INFO section on the left, or follow some of the links in the COMMUNITY section. But best of all is just trying it out. It is quite hard to tell a generic difference between games. Especially since BP has already given a nice explanation on the combat system.
